Sept 9 - Sept 13: Place value, rounding, importance of estimation.
Sept 16 - Sept 20: Add and Subtract whole numbers and decimal numbers.
Sept 23 - Sept 27: Multiply whole numbers, multiply decimal numbers.
Sept 30 - Oct 4: Multiplying decimals. Long Division.
Oct 7 - Oct 11: Long Division and Order of Operations (BEDMAS).
Oct 14 - Oct 18: Unit review and Unit Test.
Oct 21 - Oct 25: Divisibility Rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 (how to tell if a number is divisible by these numbers).
Oct 28 - Nov 1: Divisibility Rules. Lowest common multiple (LCM) and greatest common factor (GCF).
Nov 4 - Nov 8: Fractions fundamentals (equivalent fractions, mixed and improper fractions, reducing fractions to lowest terms).
Nov 11 - Nov 15: Fractions fundamentals.
Nov 18 - Nov 22: Adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.
Nov 25 - Nov 29: Fractions to decimals, decimals to fractions. Word problems involving fractions. Comparing and ordering fractions.
Dec 2 - Dec 6: Fractions review. Percents unit (students will need a calculator). Converting fractions to decimals to percents. Finding percent of a number.
Dec 9 - Dec 13: Finding percent of a number. Calculating tip, tax, discount, commission. Interest rates, loans.
Dec 16 - Dec 20: Review of percents unit. Last day of school before Christmas break is Fri, Dec 20.
Jan 6 - Jan 10: Review and unit test on Percents.
Rest of Jan: Review for our midterm at end of January.
Feb 3 - Feb 7: Perimeter and area of rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles.
Feb 10 - Feb 14: Circumference of circles. Concept of pi.
Feb 17 - Feb 21: No school; Faith Days and Teacher Convention.
Feb 24 - Feb 28: Area of a circle, complex objects.
Mar 2 - Mar 6: Complex objects continued. Review for test. Unit test this week.
Mar 9 - Mar 13: Integers. Comparing integers. Adding integers.
Mar 16 - Mar 20: Subtracting integers. Review. Unit test.
Mar 23 - Mar 27: Coordinate geometry. Translations.
Mar 30 - Apr 3: Reflections and rotations.
Apr 6 - Apr 10: Review of entire geometry unit. Unit test.
Apr 13 - Apr 17: No school, Easter break.
Apr 20 - Apr 24: Statistics: mean, mode, median, range. Outliers.
April 27 - May 1: Review of statistics unit. Unit test.
May 4 - May 8: Algebra; writing expressions, writing words for expressions. Evaluating expressions.
May 11 - May 15: Evaluating expressions and solving equations.
May 18 - May 22: Table of values, graphing, finding an equation from a table or graph.
May 25 - May 29: Review of unit. Unit test.
June 1 - June 5: Review for exam.
June 8 - June 12: Review for exam.
June 15 - June 19: Exams in core subjects. Math exam date TBA.
